Connecting Your IT Infrastructure to the Cloud in 2010? This Two-Day Conference Will Show You How!

Cloud Expo Europe, the annual European event in the industry-leading International Cloud Expo series produced by Cloud Expo, Inc., is being held June 21-22, 2010, in Prague in the Czech Republic.

Join us in downtown Prague and discover how and why the cost of computation, application hosting and content storage and delivery is plunging fast by several orders of magnitude thanks to Cloud Computing.

The cloud is certainly a compelling alternative to running all applications within a traditional corporate data center. But moving from theory into practice is where things get complicated, and this is where attending a top industry event like Cloud Expo comes in.

No one can take full advantage of cloud computing without first becoming familiar with the latest issues and trends, which is why the organizing principle of the 6th International Cloud Expo on June 21-22, 2010 - is to ensure - through an intensive two-day schedule of keynotes, general and breakout sessions, and our bustling Expo Floor - that attending delegates leave the Prague Hilton Hotel with abundant resources, ideas and examples they can apply immediately to leveraging the Cloud, helping them to maximize performance, minimize cost and improve the scalability of their Enterprise IT endeavors.

Delegates will leave Cloud Expo with dramatically increased understanding the entire scope of the entire cloud computing spectrum from storage to security.

The Prague Hilton Hotel is the only place to be June 21-22, 2010, if you build, sell or purchase applications or infrastructure delivered as a cloud service. End users, IT professionals and vendors are all encouraged to participate.

Whether you're an enterprise or small to medium business, you'll soon be benefiting from the Cloud. Join your peers in Prague June 21-22, and maximize those benefits already in 2010.

Articles & Feature Stories
OpenNebula comes with several characteristics that makes it a unique software for the management of private clouds. This is actually not a mere coincidence, but rather a consequence of the design principles followed by the OpenNebula team at the time of creating the architecture and whenever a new feature is planned. So, without a shred of a doubt, we can claim that OpenNebula has the ability of managing Private Clouds embedded in its DNA. Let’s see the three stronger points of OpenNebula when managing a local set of physical and virtual resources, for in-house consumption:
Everyone is talking about Big Data, and you've implemented it to bring a competitive advantage to your company, but now what? The truth is much of that data has some sort of time and geospatial location aspect to it. Whether it be the timestamps of a temperature sensor reading or the locations of users hitting your site with their mobile phones, you have geotemporal elements in your data. You can easily calculate the average temperature from yesterday or how many people connected from a state, but there is so much more valuable information locked inside that data if you just ask the right questions.
HP announced its first public cloud services on April 10th. And we’ve been the hottest trending topic ever since. Now it’s your turn to get a look at the HP Cloud. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Blake Yeager, Product Manager Lead for IaaS at HP Cloud Services, will take you through our next public cloud infrastructure, platform services and cloud solutions, show you how easy it is to spin up instances of compute, storage, and CDN as well as share with you the next gen platform we’re building around PaaS and SaaS. He’ll cover a good amount of technical best practices and even share some use cases currently in our beta program. If you’re developing web services or building cloud-based apps and services you won’t want to miss this session.
The combined effect of trends in the consumerization of IT services, BYOD policies and mobile work forces are having transforming effects on both Enterprise storage administrators and service providers alike. In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Brian Olson, Cloud Business Development Manager for EMC's Atmos, will explore these dynamics more closely and include real-world examples of how scale-out cloud storage and programmable APIs can not only help deliver new next-generation custom apps faster, but also provide storage as a service for new use cases. Both can be easily customized, monetized, and brought to market to satisfy the demands of your ‘gotta have it now,’ attention starved, customer base.
IT Cloud Management strategies enable organizations to maximize the business value of their private clouds In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Joe Fitzgerald, Chief Product Officer & Co-founder of ManageIQ, will discuss customer experiences and how these strategies increase agility, improve service delivery levels and reduce operating expenses. Joe Fitzgerald is the Chief Product Officer & Co-founder of ManageIQ. Prior to founding ManageIQ, he was CTO and Director Product Development for Hewlett Packard’s Change & Configuration Management Software Business, a division of the $1B HP Software Business Unit, where he was named HP distinguished technologist in 2005. Joe brings over 30 years of experience providing operations, systems and configuration management solutions to hundreds of enterprise class IT organizations worldwide.
As rumored last week, Salesforce.com Monday said it’s going to buy Buddy Media for roughly $689 million in cash and stock. Buddy Media lets marketers manage their presence on social sites like Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. They can publish content, place social advertising, measure the effectiveness of their social media marketing programs, determine which content is driving the most engagements, test different strategies and isolate the campaigns delivering the best ROI. Salesforce already owns Radian6, a so-called social media listening platform, and will merge the two platforms together in its Marketing Cloud so it can offer the entire social marketing lifecycle.
C12G recently released a Sandbox Appliance for VMware and now they are doing the same for KVM. The appliance image is already in its OpenNebula marketplace but hold your horses and don’t download it just yet. Head to the documentation and download the script that will be used to configure your machines, download the image and start it up. The requirements now are at least a couple of machines with Ubuntu Server 12.04 64 bit. The CPU should support hardware virtualization as we are using KVM here. It is based on the VMware appliance so you’ll be able to develop in it if you need as all the libraries needed for compilation are already there.
Today’s end users are always connected, and mobile and social apps have given them the expectation of immediate gratification. Why should enterprise apps be any different? What good is Big Data and real-time computing if you can’t broadcast data to all your end users in milliseconds? In his session at the 10th International Cloud Expo, Todd Greene, CEO and co-founder of PubNub, will discuss how companies are using real-time cloud infrastructure to deliver new kinds of killer apps to users. This broad reaching topic will illustrate how the cloud is powering real-time apps across a wide range of industries, including real-time analytics, advertising, massive scale audience participation, linking commerce with presence, and business collaboration that enables live participation and the ability for instant decision-making. Whether you build or support b2b or b2c apps, it’s likely that your...
With increasing data storage demands resulting from new content types – rich digital media, social media and machine-generated data – small and mid-size businesses have been challenged to incorporate sophisticated methods to back up critical company data. For many types of small businesses, it just doesn't make sense to go out and buy all the storage hardware, software and services that were required before the advent of cloud backup, which now has a track record of about seven years.
Another year and another Cloud Expo in New York. This year I will be giving two different presentations. The first is on Application Performance Monitoring in the Clouds. In this talk I will cover the five top lessons we have learned about performance and cloud applications. The second is about Performance Management in ‘Big Data’ Applications. Most articles that I found on performance and Big Data are about the performance options on the Big Data product itself, but tend to be pretty light on the application itself. In this talk I will cover the two sides of BigData (Hadoop MapReduce and NoSQL) and analyze how these new technologies affect the application performance discipline.

Did you know that ninety percent of the data in the world has been created in the last two years? Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion (or 2.518) bytes of data, according to IBM. As corporations across all industries globally are struggling with how to retain, aggregate and analyze this mounting volume of what the industry refers to as Big Data, it also provides a unique opportunity for innovative startups that recognize the business prospects Big Data presents. Big Data is not just unlocking new information but new sources of economic and business value. Interactivity is driving Big Data, with people and machines both consuming and creating it. Digital companies focused on becoming good at aggregating and analyzing the data created by the end users of their product, who then provide their customers with solid insights taken from that data are at a distinct competitive advantage over others in the marketplace.

Cloud computing is becoming one of the next industry buzz words. It joins the ranks of terms including: grid computing, utility computing, virtualization, clustering, etc. Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own meaning if contextually used correctly. The conceptual overlap is partly due to technology changes, usages and implementations over the years. Trends in usage of the terms from Google searches shows Cloud Computing is a relatively new term introduced in the past year. There has also been a decline in general interest of Grid, Utility and Distributed computing. Likely they will be around in usage for quit a while to come. But Cloud computing has become the new buzz word driven largely by marketing and service offerings from big corporate players like Google, IBM and Amazon.
SYS-CON Events announced today that Cloud Expo 2012 New York, the 10th International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo, will take place June 11-14, 2012, at the Javits Center in New York City. Over 400 corporate sponsors and 20,000 industry professionals have participated in Cloud Expo since its inception, more than all other Cloud-related events put together. "10th Cloud Expo is trending to be both the biggest ever and the best-attended event in the international Cloud Expo series to date, so it is only natural that we should be holding it in the biggest and best conference venue anywhere on the East Coast, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center," stated Carmen Gonzalez, CEO of Cloud Expo. "If you are not at Cloud Expo New York, June 11-14, at the Javits Center, then you risk not getting the relevant parts of your IT infrastructure into the Cloud in time."
Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Hbase, Lucene, Solr? The only thing growing faster than enterprise data these days is the landscape of big data tools. These tools, which are designed to help organizations turn big data into opportunities, are gaining deeper insight into massive volumes of information. A recent Gartner report predicts that enterprise data will increase by 650% over the next five years, which means that the time is now for IT decision makers to determine which big data tools are the best - and most cost-effective - for their organization.
