The Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI), the first multi-vendor effort to create a cloud infrastructure services API (IaaS), will be made available as an implementable draft at OGF26 shortly. It will enable users to manage the entire lifecycle of virtual machines and similar workloads, and is comparable to the Amazon EC2 and Sun Cloud APIs. This presentation will serve as an introduction suitable for both implementors and consumers of the API.
Speaker Bio: Sam Johnston is an independent strategic consultant who founded Sydney based Australian Online Solutions over a decade ago. A computer scientist at heart, he is one of the pioneers of the cloud computing space having advised and architected pilots for some of the largest enterprises in Europe. He spent two years with Citrix (a key Cloud Computing vendor) and has served as CTO for a number of high-tech companies. He maintains a blog at http://samj.net/.
